OPINION: Ibori-Suenu 2027: Consolidating the “Full Package” Representation in Ethiope Federal Constituency
By GABRIEL CHOBA
In the often turbulent and disappointing arena of Nigerian politics, where grand promises routinely dissolve into empty rhetoric, the people of Ethiope East and Ethiope West Federal Constituency have witnessed something refreshingly different: a representative who actually represents.
Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu’s first term in the 10th National Assembly has not been a tenure of mere presence, but one of profound and purposeful action. As the political discourse begins to tilt toward 2027, the emerging consensus in the constituency is not about seeking an alternative, but about securing continuity.
This is not blind loyalty; it is a rational, evidence-based response to a style of leadership that has redefined what “representation” means.
Her approach, aptly termed the “Full Package Representation,” is a masterclass in integrated development. It recognizes that true progress is not a single project or a solitary bill, but a synergistic blend of human empowerment, infrastructural revival, and strategic foresight.
The Evidence on Ground:
Start with the foundation of any society: its people. While many politicians pay lip service to education, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu has invested directly in the future of her constituents. Sponsoring over 500 free JAMB registrations and offsetting NECO fees is not charity; it is a strategic investment in human capital, breaking financial barriers that have long stifled potential.
Her Starlite Hopes Initiative (SHI) has taken healthcare to the grassroots, performing surgeries and offering medical care in communities like Eku and Abraka, addressing a critical need with tangible compassion.
On infrastructure, she has tackled decades of neglect head-on. The securing of funds for the rehabilitation of the crucial Agbor-Abraka federal road speaks to an understanding of the economic artery that connects her people. The installation of over 40 transformers is a direct attack on the darkness, both literal and metaphorical, that hinders rural enterprise and daily life.
Perhaps most impressively, Hon. Erhiatake has leveraged her position as Chairman of the House Committee on the NDDC to think beyond the immediate term.
Her proposals for a Customs Training College in Oghara and a Federal Paramedics College in Isiokolo are strokes of strategic genius. These are not just projects; they are institutions.
They promise to transform Ethiope into a hub for specialized training, creating sustainable employment, attracting ancillary businesses, and elevating the constituency’s profile on the national stage for generations to come.
The Imperative of Continuity:
To change course now would be to commit a grave disservice to the momentum that has been painstakingly built. Development is a continuum. The road projects, the educational foundations, the healthcare frameworks, and the proposed federal institutions are at critical stages. They require the consistent vision, political capital, and proven dedication of the architect who initiated them to see them through to completion.
Switching representatives risks stalling these initiatives, as a newcomer would require time to learn, negotiate, and re-prioritize time the constituency cannot afford to lose. The “one good term deserves another” adage is rooted in this practical reality: to consolidate gains and ensure that public investment yields maximum return, you need the steward who laid the first brick to lay the last one.
A Leader for the Moment:
In an era marked by division and performative politics, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu has stood out by focusing on results and unity. Her leadership is quiet, diligent, and effective. She has chosen to build bridges through empowerment rather than walls through rhetoric. She has measured her success not by the volume of her voice in Abuja, but by the improved conditions in the villages and towns of Ethiope federal constituency.
Therefore, the call for her re-election in 2027 is the call of a pragmatic people. It is a choice for sustained progress over uncertain experimentation; for the completion of a visionary blueprint over starting from scratch.
The path for Ethiope Federal Constituency is illuminated by the work already begun. To turn back or deviate would be to choose shadows over light.
The mandate for 2027 must be to ‘consolidate, complete, and continue’. Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu has earned the trust and deserves the time to finish what she has so impressively started.
For Ethiope federal constituency, the best is indeed yet to come but only if they stay the course with the leader, The Niger Delta Amazon who has already proven she can deliver.
